FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

    • What is NAV-CO2?
      • NAV-CO2 systems use liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) as a propellant. NAV-CO2 systems combine alcohol-based sanitizing solutions with a heated stream of CO2 liquid to create a vapor capable of penetrating small crevices and gaps.

    • What does NAV-CO2 do?
      • NAV-CO2 atomizes alcohol at room temperature using liquid CO2. Sanitizers such as quaternary ammonium can be added to alcohol to sanitize contact surfaces where individuals may become exposed to pathogens. This is achieved with a highly reduced risk of flammability inherent in atomized alcohol sanitizers. This breakthrough application method allows for sanitizing without water or residue.

    • What are Pathogens?
      • Pathogens are disease causing organisms. These include bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

    • What are Fomites?
      • Fomites are surfaces that contain pathogens.

    • Why do I want interchangeable CO2 tanks in my NAV-CO2 system?
      • In the event that you need to sanitize a large area quickly you will want to avoid having to take the entire system to a shop to have it refilled.

    • Is NAV-CO2 environmentally sustainable?
      • Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes.
      • First, NAV-CO2 does not use chlorine or other persistent chemicals.
      • Second, the "transfer efficiency" of NAV-CO2 allows it to use 60% less of the sanitizer per square foot than the typical application method.
      • Third, A 25% reduction by volume of quaternary ammonia + alcohol meets the same federal regulations for food surface sanitizing as a water based blend. More power, lower cost.
      • Fourth, there is no unused sanitizer that is thrown away.
      • Lastly, the sanitizer is designed to break down before it can promote mutation resistance "in the wild".

    • Can I put some other stuff into my NAV-CO2 system?
      • Only Biomist products are tested and approved for use with NAV-CO2 systems. Non-approved products do not meet our testing or quality standards and can lead to serious injury or death, and damage to NAV-CO2 systems. Read, understand, and comply with your user manual.

    • Can I put bleach into my NAV-CO2 system?
      • NO !! Atomized bleach inhalation is very dangerous to humans, even in minute concentrations, and can lead to serious injury or death. Read, understand, and comply with your user manual.

    • Where can I get my CO2 tank filled?
      • CO2 tanks can be refilled by CO2 gas merchants such as Linde, Airgas, or other gas suppliers. Use the terms "weld gas suppliers", "carbonics", "fire extinguisher service". These businesses have the ability to refill CO2 cylinders. Do not swap, exchange or trade your cylinder. It is designed for your system, other cylinders are not.

    • Can I use a tank from the weld shop or my beer fridge in my NAV-CO2?
      • No. Our tanks are lighter and cleaner than steel tanks and have other vital features necessary for safe and reliable performance of your system. United Sanitizing offers these tanks at a competitive price.

    • Against which pathogens is the NAV-CO2 system effective?
      • United Sanitizing offers several sanitizing products for NAV-CO2 systems. Your United Sanitizing representative can help you select the best sanitizer for your requirements. Our customers typically use their Biomist Sanitizing System for the control of MRSA, norovirus, salmonella, listeria, E. coli, influenza, tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis, staph and pseudomonas aeruginosa

    • I have an outbreak, pandemic, contaminated area - can the Biomist System solve my problem?
      • Yes. Biomist Power Sanitizing Systems propel a nonflammable mist of concentrated alcohol up to 15 feet with a point-and-spray atomizer. Alcohol’s antimicrobial properties are well known, and our system eliminates its flammability by using CO2 to encase the alcohol vapor. Biomist Formula D2 is an EPA-approved hospital-grade disinfectant that’s tuberculocidal, virucidal, fungicidal, and is strong enough to kill Norovirus. It’s a pre-mixed solution of isopropyl alcohol and quaternary ammonium compounds. It dries in minutes, so no wiping or residual cleanup is required. The swirling mist penetrates into cracks and crevices where pathogens hide. Disinfecting areas beyond physical reach such as ceiling vents. Biomist Formula D2 is non-corrosive, so it's perfect for disinfecting non-critical devices and sensitive electronic equipment like electrocardiogram machines, computers, telephones, and keyboards. Biomist is also safe for use in food-processing areas and cafeterias.
